Rovensa’s near-term science-based emission reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), an organization that ensures targets are aligned with climate science.
This means that our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction targets are grounded in climate science aligned with the Paris Agreement to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
Our Near-Term Reduction Targets
- Rovensa commits to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 50% by 2030 from a 2021 base year;
- Rovensa also commits to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and upstream and downstream transportation and distribution by 25% by 2030 from a 2021 base year.
This means we will reduce GHG emissions from our manufacturing facilities by 50% by 2030 compared to the levels they were at in 2021.
In 2022, Rovensa’s Scope 3 emissions constituted 92% of our total GHG emissions. For this reason, we have committed to reducing emissions associated with our purchased goods like raw materials and packaging, and emissions associated with transportation to and from our facility by 25% by 2030 compared to levels in 2021.
Tackling climate change requires ambitious and necessary action from the corporate sector and our science-based target proves our commitment to doing not what is easy but what is necessary.
As we join over 4,500 companies with approved targets, we encourage our suppliers and peers in the chemical and wider agriculture sector to commit to science-based 1.5°C targets and net zero targets. Together, we can tackle climate change and build a sustainable economy.
